It’s #LabourForceFriday and the newest statistics from Statistics Canada show that Saskatchewan has added 24,400 (+4.4%) jobs year-over-year, which puts it 3rd amongst the provinces in terms of percentage change! Saskatchewan’s unemployment rate was 4.0% (seasonally adjusted), which places it 2nd lowest among the provinces and well below the national average of 4.9%. The province has also hit historical highs for off-reserve indigenous employment. Saskatchewan’s seasonally adjusted employment of 576,200 has recovered 100.4 per cent from pre-COVID February 2020 employment levels.
The Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) program gives high school students the opportunity to learn more about skilled trades career pathways and gain a head start on their skilled trades career, should they register as an apprentice after graduation.
