July 4, 2019 – Academic Misconduct – Construction Electricians

Summary:

The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) issued sanctions against 22 Construction Electricians for engaging in academic misconduct while attending apprenticeship technical training.

The Construction Electricians obtained access to materials they should not have had access to during technical training, including level exams and Red Seal interprovincial certification exams.

Sanctions are effective July 1, 2019.

Legislation:

Section 40 of The Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission Regulations gives the SATCC the ability to suspend or cancel certificates where the organization has reasonable grounds to believe they were obtained through misrepresentation.

The Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) program gives high school students the opportunity to learn more about skilled trades career pathways and gain a head start on their skilled trades career, should they register as an apprentice after graduation.
