SASKATCHEWAN YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED TO 100 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ACROSS THE PROVINCE

Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) Industry Scholarships have been awarded to 100 graduating high school students in 72 communities across the province this year.  The $1,000 scholarships are awarded to students who’ve completed the SYA Program, a program overseen by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) that exposes students to opportunities in the skilled trades.

CELEBRATING SKILLED TRADES AND TECHNOLOGY WEEK IN SASKATCHEWAN

The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed November 4-10 as Skilled Trades and Technology Week in Saskatchewan to raise awareness of the career opportunities available in the skilled trades and technology sectors.  This week aligns with the National Skilled Trades and Technology Week celebrated across Canada.

APPRENTICESHIP INCENTIVE GRANT FOR WOMEN

In Budget 2018, the Government of Canada announced a new Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Women to further support women in entering, progressing, and completing their training in Red Seal trades where women are underrepresented. The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Women (AIG-W) is a taxable cash grant of $3,000 per year/level (or equivalent) up to a maximum amount of $6,000 per person.
