Substance Use

Problems with drug and alcohol use can be common among tradespeople in Canada because of the stressful nature and physical demands of their jobs. This added stress may lead some tradespeople to use substances to cope. Unfortunately, the stigma around these issues can make it difficult for them to seek help.

The Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) program gives high school students the opportunity to learn more about skilled trades career pathways and gain a head start on their skilled trades career, should they register as an apprentice after graduation.
