The Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) program encourages youth to enter a career in the skilled trades. SYA Industry Scholarships provide additional incentives for the highest SYA achievers to become apprentices in the trades of their choice.
In 2016, 100 SYA graduates received scholarships redeemable for $1,000.
The scholarship program is made possible through generous contributions of industry, and support from the Government of Saskatchewan.
The SYA Industry Scholarship Sponsorship brochure form provides additional information on the benefits of becoming a sponsor, and includes a form to fill out to commit to sponsoring the program and the next generation of apprentices.
To date, 45 industry sponsors have donated $680,000 to the SYA Scholarships. Through the Saskatchewan Innovations and Opportunity Scholarship, the Government of Saskatchewan has contributed through matching donations.
Youth can learn more about how to apply and qualify for the scholarship through the Youth Apprentices page.
