  2. To be eligible for Apprenticeship training you must be employed in the trade by a Saskatchewan employer. Once you are employed you and your employer can submit the Form 1, Application for Apprenticeship (current fee is $150.00), Form A (Contract between apprentice and employer) and high school transcript. After your application has been processed and approved, a training coordinator will schedule you in the first available training space. Tuition is currently $85.00 per training week. The average level of training is about 8 weeks. The rest of the time you should be working. The average trade is about four years. So you would be called to school once a year for 8 weeks for 4 years. You can obtain the Application for Apprenticeship from our website:

Unfortunately we do not keep lists of employers looking to hire apprentices. It’s up to you to find a job in your chosen field. Here are some websites that may be useful for you.

Some individuals apply to Saskatchewan Polytechnic before becoming employed in order to take a pre-employment type course. These courses usually assist people in finding initial employment in the trade they are interested in but if you can find a job without pre-employment that’s great. The Apprenticeship Commission does not pay any costs associated with pre-employment courses.

I hope I was able to answer your questions. Thank you for your interest in apprenticeship training.
