Alastair joined the Commission Board in 2014 as the representative from the Ministry of the Economy where he is the Assistant Deputy Minister of Labour Market Development. He leads the team responsible for coordinating labour market programs and services to meet the needs of the economy, such as basic education and training for adults, employment services and immigration, and integrated planning across government and with external partners.

Alastair studied at the University of Saskatchewan and graduated with degrees in Biochemistry and Psychology, and a Master’s Degree in Brain and Behavioural Psychology.

Previously, Alastair was the Executive Director of the Labour Market Planning Branch, and Manager of Service Delivery for the province’s Career and Employment Services. While working for the Ministry of Social Services, he was awarded the 2008 IPAC New Professionals Award for Excellence in Public Administration. He has also worked in the non-profit sector with the Saskatchewan Abilities Council. Alastair is currently a member of the Physician Recruitment Agency of Saskatchewan Board of Directors and the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Training Certification Commission Board of Directors.
